Shattered t5 bellhousing
I went to the shop today and started redoing my exhaust and noticed that my bellhousing isnt just cracked, its more like shattered, half of it must be the only thing holding it htere as there is an enormous crack running half the circumference and another crack mid way intersecting that crack and going a different direction.
Anyone ever had this happen to them?
Im still wondering how the hell this happened, ive never heard of this happening to anyone short of truck people.
The car only does mid 13s, has a stock clutch, non WC t5, and drag radials

yep, cast aluminum bell, rough cast at that. can't take the stress with drag radials, you've run that car quick for quite some time now, probably just couldn't take the pressure anymore.

Poly or solid trans mount with rubber (old/worn?) engine mounts? Trans won't rotate from the stiff mount while the enigne moves all over.
RBob.
RBob.
I'm running a T-5 behind an LT4 with poly trans/motor mounts and drag radials out back, with 12.8's the norm now, and I've never damaged the case of the trans or anything, only internal parts. Power alone shouldn't do anything to the bellhousing.

You might be onto something RBob, its not poly but its like solid rubber. Came out of the junkyard when i got the tranny to begin with. Have never seen one like it, just a solid brick of rubber.
The motor mounts are factory originals.
I suppose it could also be that this is an 83 bellhousing.
anyways thanks for the tips.
I may look into that lakewood you got greeze monkey PM me with how much you want for it

i had never pulled a trans until i did mine, i was very surprised how flimsy the stock bellhousing was. kind of scary it and some sheet metal is whats there to protect your legs.
greezemonkey, if Pablo doesnt want the scatter shield, i do
