have no park

I just bought this car and was going to change the fluids in it so I put it on ramps, well when i did this the car rolled right off the ramps. Can anyone tell me why this happens? And is there a way to fix it? The car runs fine i have been driving it for the past couple days and the tranny seems to run good just no park.

i'd suspect the parking paw is out of adjustment.

IIRC, I dont think there is any way to adjust the mechanism that engages the pawl with a 700-R4. I didnt see anything, anyway. Its just a large bar with a spring loaded rod on the end that pushes on the pawl, forcing it to engage. The more likely thing is that the shifter linkage is beat. It takes a little more umph to engage park so if its sloppy the shifter moves to park, but the trans is still somehwhere inbetween, or maybe even still in reverse. Get under the car and manually engage park. If it goes into park, then the shifter linkage needs replacing.
