Clutch Slipping Need Help
i just had a clutch installed about 10,000 miles ago, the car currently has 110k miles on it. generic clutch. 500$ for everything
if this has anything to do with it, the tranny has been rebuilt 3 times SINCE the new clutch because it took 3 times before the shop relized they were putting the wrong 5th gear in,, it was all under warranty.
ANYWAYS..
if i try to spin tires on dry pavement, my clutch will slip before my tires will. (rpms go up without the car moving) and if it spins enough, i get the nasty clutch smell. This happened when i tried to do the only burnout i have ever done because i was getting tires the next day. the bald old tires didnt even chirp but it was frying the clutch.
and the other time i tried to launch hard from a stop sign into traffic, the clutch was all the way out, and i barely moved.
the car runs fine when i'm driving it normally but why is it slipping or not fully engaging? HELPHELPHELP

sorry, the shop said they DID resurface the flywheel.
they even did it again for me during one of the tranny rebuilds because i was having and still do have horrible clutch chatter for whatever reason.

This shop sounds like they have some issuses
But anyway, the only thing I can think of is that your flywheel is junk. Since the pressure plate and disc are brand new there shouldn't be any problems with them.

Crappy clutch? Leaking Rear main seal getting oil on the flywheel making the clutch slip? Did you jack up the car and see any oil there? Usually a shop will tell you if it is leaking though so they can get some extra money.

Maybe I can help since I just went thro this myself.
when you first install a new clutch with the flywheel resurfaced,
you drive the clutch for a breakin period so the clutch disk wears into the flywheel and pressure plate and takes a set. Once you resurface the flywheel again, you lose that set and alot of the holding power of the clutch. If you drive it hard you will overheat the clutch and ruin the clutch. (BURN OUT!) You need to get a new clutch setup and resurface the flywheel again for the new clutch (*Warning* if the flywheel has been resurfaced to many times and to much material removed, you may have to replace the flywheel also). Install the new setup again with a fresh flywheel and drive it normal for about 300-400 miles to breakin the new clutch before trying to do a burn out or racing it. Your new clutch will like it alot better.
Have fun
