hey i'm going to be ordering a limited slip for my trans am within the next month but the problem is it's an 89 and i don't know what the production date is to see wheather it was the 88 or 89 with the 26 or 28 spline axle, is there anywhere i can type in a vin or something and find the production date or a way i can find out how many spline axle it is?

 

you could always pull and axle and count splines

 

well i could but the problem with that is i've never done rear end work and i work at a midas and i'm able to work on my cars there BUT my car isn't there yet and the owner doesn't want it there more then 2 months and i have to put a tranny in, head liner, the posi and gears. if worse coems to worse and there is no other way i guess i'll have no choice then to do that

edit: also on jegs they have an auburn limited slip unit that says 88-up and then there other one says 76-88 so do you think i'd be safe with that?
