4th gen 10 bolt or 9 bolt?
Friend has a 4th gen 10 bolt from a 99 ss with a stock zexel torsen posi, stock gears, stock axles, with a MAC stud girdle, and motive 3.73 gears. Everything has about 20k miles on it or so. He has like 475 hp with 475 torque or so. He was lookign at a 9 bolt with 80k miles I think, he was goign to swap in some new gears, thinkign about getting new stuff for the posi. He wants to know, should he keep the 10 bolt or go with the 9?? Thanks.

Keep the 10 bolt.
The 9 bolt is not bulletproof by anymeans. It's a GREAT option for the money, and for mild power, but for what he has, he'd just mangle it.
...but I don't know how long that 10 bolt is gonna last either with almost 500/500.

those numbers were to the crank btw. We're questioning it because Miles has a 500 hp big block running a 9 bolt, and there are many people that claim it'll hold that easily, and many others who busted theirs with far less power than that.
But the 10 bolt, well I busted mine driving it normally cuising at 50 mph down a road. And many others have busted theirs like that too, but some make it to 11's in the 1/4.
*** knows no rear end is created equal, but really what would be best to hold this for the longest time?
Would bringing the 10 bolt to the shop and having the axles tubes welded help any really?
