Clutch
I am going to be increasing the CI under the hood of my car and instead of just putting in the stock clutch I am going to be upgrading. I have been doing some reading to find out which one is the best but havent read many first hand accounts. I really like the SPEC clutches, but the stage one seems like it will not be able to hold up to the motor I am putting in. But the stage 2 looks to be out of my price range at this time. I have heard some good things about CF, but then again I have heard just as many bad things about them. And lastly does McLeod make a clutch for the T5? I am not looking for a "on or off" clutch, my wife is going to be driving the car and I would like the clutch pedal to be able to be depressed without a ton of force and when it is I do not want it to just stick. Any help would be great also if you have any sites with good reading or sites that sell SPEC clutches or McLeod would be great. Thanks.
Lastly what do you guys think about RAM or Hayes? Are those any good at all? I have never heard anything about them.

I would try centerforce dual friction. Very light pedal (same or better than stock) and easy to drive (for the wife).

Good advice here. The SPEC is definatley an "on or off" unit. I have found that the people that had negative things to say about the D/F, did not adhere to the proper breakin instructions supplied with the clutch. The D/F 10.4-1 1/8x26 will handle roughly 425 H.P.

The RAM Powergrip Premium (Kevlar) clutch is an "off or on" clutch. I made the mistake of putting one in with my 383 SuperRam swap. It has about a 150 RPM range where the clutch will not chatter and shake the car so bad that it readjusts the mirrors! Unless you rev it to 2400 or so and drop it.
In my mind it is a strictly competition clutch. Definitely not something the typical wife is gonna manage very well. H3LL, I don't manage it very well myself. Stop light to stop light, or heavy traffic, is absolute murder with my RAM clutch.
I even called RAM about it, and they were quite cavalier about it. "So sad, too bad" was the drift I got from them. They would "happily rebuild it to different specs for me", at about the same price as buying a new one. So I'm stuck with a RAM clutch and will never buy another RAM product for as long as I live.
I'm gonna give a CF-DF a try in the next couple of weeks.....

Thanks for the information guys. I was really concerned with that amount of HP the clutch would not really like it. But if the CF is good for 425 then I might be ok if I am not too rough on it. Also am I going to have any problems bolting up the new motor to the old transmission? They are both a 1 piece rear main seal.
