T56 Swap Questions to those who have done it...

I looked in the swap thread but i have some more specific questions.
1) Did you guys use the 4'th or 3'rd gen gas pedal..They say you can just cut the 4'th gen gas pedal off the assembly and use the rest.
2) Can anyone explain to me the difference between the master cylinder and the slave cylinder and how to mount them, and also do i need to get a fluid resevior for the master cylinder?
3) I know it the thread it says to align the clutch disk but how do you actually do that on a stock t56 clutch and pressure plate?
4) If I have a complete ECU and trans wiring harness out of a 94z28, will my wiring be the same as described in the thread? or can i just change out my ECU since I've converted to a carbed 355ci anyways?
5)How long did it take you all?

Any help and especially close up pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all,
25thredrs

1. I used the stock gas pedal for my car (83); and the stock clutch & brake pedals I have in the car (not 83 stock... I think they were out of a 84, but it's been so long since I put them there, probably in 86 or so, I don't recall for sure) ... seems to do just fine, doesn't seem to me worthwhile to do extra unnecessary work (dirty 4-letter word!!) just to swap stuff out that doesn't need it.

2. The master cyl attaches to the firewall and the pedal pushes on it; the slave cyl attaches to the bell housing and pushes on the clutch fork. If you do the sensible thing and go to GM and buy the assembly, you'll get a slave cyl, master cyl, and reservoir; pre-filled with fluid. Pretty much takes the guesswork out of it.

3. Same as any other clutch disc .... with a clutch disc alignment tool. Looks about like a broom handle with splines. You can get one at about any parts store for less than $10, they even come in some clutch kits.

4. ¿ECU? What does that have to do with a transmission?

5. It took me most of a Saturday and part of a Sunday.

used my t-5 pedals too.

not long, few hours.

but, I had the t-5 already.

if this is all new to you plan a few days, if you know your way around the car and have done clutch jobs before. I would say a afternoon if you have all the parts (this is how long it took to put in the t-5 when I switched to a manual)

Dude, if you're needing to get the hydraulic *** from GM, you really need to start eating more fiber.

Yes I like them. I've had others, but with a T-5, behind a 400, in this 83. I never had ANY trouble getting them to hook up.
