It can be a PITA that's for sure. The last time I ha dmine out of the car I welded up the holes in th eends of the Z-bar and then redrilled them. I also reinforced the welds where the tube is welded tot he flat pieces. I then replaced the clutch forek and went under the dash. I welded up the wanged out hole in the pedal assy and replaced the linkage rods. You can also make up rods with heim joints fi you want to get real artsy-fartsy.
Anyway, I've had ZERO problems since.

Back in the day, Year One, same place you could still buy the complete L69 cold air stuff until some dirtbag bought out their entire stock.

Or, you could do what I did; I just swapped in the whole hydraulic system, back in about 86 or so, when I got sick of my 83's Z-bar crap after it got sticky again about 2 days after I greased it. I had hated those damn things for all the years I had been driving 3-speeds and 4-speeds in the cars I had before that, and that POS just pushed me over the edge one day, and I saw a car in the boneyard that had it; I scored it, slapped it off in there, and haven't regretted it for a minute ever since. Well, at least, until I put a T-56 in the car last summer; which is of course also hydraulic.

Until I find one, I'm just working with what I have.

I got a new one at the local Chevy Dealer 5 or 6 months ago. I think it was around a 140.00 or so. The Paddock in Indiana sells them but they are on back order for some dumb reason so I got it at the dealer instead. Mine works fine now. I loaded it up good with grease and replace both pivot ***** and the felt seals which the dealer supplied too.
If you want to go with a hydraulic clutch let me know how much you will take for your bell housing that you have now. If the price is right I will take it off yours hands if there is nothing wrong with it.
