Changing the speedo gears is a snap.

1. Remove driveshaft
2. remove torque arm
3. remove speedo driven gear housing
4. remove tailshaft
5. you will need to pry the metal clip holding the drive gear to the tailshaft and slide the gear off.
6. Slide the new gear onto the tailshaft. Make sure it is aligned correctly before you slide it down. it is useful to tap it on with a pipe that fits over the tailshaft to keep it straight.
7. reinstall the tailshaft housing. Make sure you have a new o-ring.
8. Reinstall the driven gear housing with a new o-ring as well.
9. reinstall torque arm/ driveshaft, ect.

GM high tech performance had an article on this a few months back.
