th-350 vs. th400

just wondering, can anybody suggest from experience which is the better transmission, maybe not better, but which is stronger. Everybody has been telling me that the th-350 is stronger, but i didnt know. Im trying to decide which i want to use instead of my tired 700-r4.
Gonna be pushing 400 plus hp with nitrous.
Thanks!!!

The TH-400 is bullitproof IT does take away more RWHP then a TH-350.

As a stock comparison the TH400 is stronger. It's hard to explain why unless you see the internal design of both.

The TH350 has a better gear ratio and is lighter than the TH400 but cost more to beef it up.

The TH350 uses about 36hp. The TH400 uses about 44hp so there's not a big loss by using the TH400.

The TH350 is a simple swap from a 700R4. The TH400 requires a new tranny crossmember, a different tranny slip yoke and a shorter driveshaft because of it's extra length.

I started with a 700R4 in my race car because it was still roughly stock. I then went to a TH350 followed by a TH400. I now use a powerglide.

thanks, i did not know that i would need to get a new crossmember to replace the 700-r4 to a th-400 along with the new driveshaft. At this time i will probably jus stick with the swap to a th-350, i am not planning on much competition for the upcoming season anyways, as well as being broke.
