no 3rd or 4th on 700r

just like it says...this trans is a 91 newer type,installed in a 85 iroc.was gm reman'd in 2000.it sat for 3 yrs,has 24k on it.i was told it was good by a friend(maybe not a friend?).it shifts hard into 2nd(gets sideways for quite a distance),but when it tries to go into third its like neutral.is the 3-4 clutchpack shot?how much to fix it?thanks for any help.

Same exact thing happened to me. I pulled the tranny out of it and changed it last night though. Didn't really check it out too much. It had excessive clutch material in the pan (fluid was gray) When i pulled the torque converter out, there were a couple pieces of metal that came out. I think the TQ converter began the ahnialation of my tranny.

I replaced my governer once and thought it would help, but let me tell you, it doesn't. I would say that 3-4 clutch pack did go out. I can't help you on the price of the clutch pack, but you might wanna go over your TQ Converter and make sure it's okay too.
Last night was my first Tranny change, so hopefully I helped you a bit.

3/4 clutch burnt up more than likely.proper calibration and parts will eliminate thisw in the future.
