Gears from Jimmy/Blazer
I tried a couple of searches with no results.
I am wondering if the Jimmy/Blazer gears, looking at the 3.73 ratio would go into my Camaro 2.73 open dif rear. I know the gears will work but what else is needed. Because with the aftermarket gears there are 2 series and 3 series gears. Will the gears just go into the rear without any other pieces or is there more.
Sorry if the question sounds stupid just need some help. Any help is greatly appriciated.
Thanks, Josh

They'll go in if you take the carrier and all. The ring and pinion from a 3.73 will not work on a 2.73 carrier....they're different series. The series 2 vs. series 3 carrier issue is not just with aftermarket gears, stock gears are the same way. There's also the spline count issue (26 vs. 28 spline axles.) The Blazer/Jimmy axles won't work in an F-body rear because the lengths are wrong.
FWIW my '84 Jimmy has a 3.42 posi rear.

Thanks, I was just going to use the gears not the axles. Sorry But what is the carrier. I don't know much about rear ends.
So what do I need to make them work.
