My speedo currently isnt working , and i was wondering if i will have any problems with the car/trans . I was told by one of the other gusy over at the prom board that it will do something to my tranny because it wont lockup in od . But i thought that the 700r4 was controlled hydraulically . If this is like a seiours problem not having it work ill get it fixede like right away but if it wont wreck the tranny then ill get to it later . So what do you guys think ?

 

Speedo not working? Mechanical cable broke? Electric? Well I think I remember something about the computer locking/unlocking the converter at certain speeds so if your car can't tell how fast it's going then that won't function properly.

When I got my car the first thing I had to do was replace the broken speedo cable and housing, fun stuff. My speedo also reads slow because of the weak magnet in the gauge but the computer gets the correct speed from the VSS.

 

its a cable driven one , its an 85 ta .

 

I looked at my Tuner Pro and your Fuel Management Mode is enabled at a certain speed, TCC Coast Release is at a certain speed, and who knows what other funtions use the speed variable. Searching the PROM section might find out what else uses it.
