Speedo Gear Help!
Hey. I'm swapping my 2.73 open gears for some nice 3.73 gears with an eaton posi unit. Now, I went to 700r4.com and found that i need a 15 tooth drive gear and a 15 tooth driven gear. The tires i plan on having (within the next month) are 315/35R17 with an overall 25.7" in height. Is 700r4.com correct?
Secondly, do i need to change the carriers and such? If 700r4.com is correct, then i should have a 17 tooth drive gear and a 36 tooth driven gear (by their calculater. I put in 245/50R16 into it rather than the height). Does this mean i have to buy a new carrier?
Thanx
Rabbitt
BTW, i did some searching didnt find anything that would answer my specific question.. i dont wanna fudge it up...
EDIT:: *looks up* Excuse me.. i mean **** it up

i re-ran your combo, and with 3.73 gears and a 25.7" tire, you'll need a 15t drive gear and a 43t driven gear.
not really sure what you mean by carriers, but you shouldn't have to change anything other than your speedo drive gears themselves.

are you talking about the thing that holds the driven gear?
unless your going from electric to mechanical, you don't need a whole new deal. i am buying JUST the gears. comes out to like $14.80 instead of the $60 they want for the whole kit.

did you not read the thread?
700r4.com has a caculator to tell you what you need, and then has the gears available to buy them. also, you can get them from a local tranny shop.

your local shop can order it. ask them to.
i'm not sure why you think my comment was to degrade you, i was helping you. if you know of other places to buy the gears, then why are you asking?
