Reuse or Replace? 1st time axle rebuild
I’m in the process of rebuilding this 9 bolt that I’ve been sitting on for a while. This is my first attempt at this so I’m taking is slowly and I need some advise.
First – the car is for the street only, no track days or drag slicks. I’ll be abusive enough on the street.
First things off were the axle shafts. Do these look like they’ve got life left in them? And the shaft bearings…are these an automatic replacement item, or can they be repacked and reinstalled?
Lastly, can someone clue me in on how to put multiple attachments on the same message? I know it’s annoying to people when I have to make a new message for each picture

That Axel looks fine to me, not very much wear indicated by the Pic.
I always change the Axel bearings if the rear has High miles on it, just to be safe. But, if the bearings aren't pitted or burnt (bluesh color) than you would be OK to reuse them.

follow-up question
Thanks. I guess I'll take a long, close look at those bearings before deciding to reuse them.
Another Question: When everything is out of this sucker, is it worth the time to weld the seams where the tubes enter the center section?

I would, just for peace of mind. I normally pay around $45 to have it done by a Rear End shop. Since they have Jigs to make sure the axel houseings don't pull.
