LT1-T56 TO LS1 Motor

Is it possible to mount a T56 from an LT-1 to an LS1 motor...If so, what do you have to do or change?
Thanks,

It is easier to sell the one you have and buy one for an LS1 car. You can convert it but you would have to ruin two trannys to create one. Doesn't make much sense.

What do you mean by ruin two tranny's...i was pretty sure their was just an adapter plate to make them fit, and also.....I've read the LS1- 6 speeds will not fit in our cars???

The clutch set-up is different, the bell housing, and the input shaft. If you have a Gen I or Gen II motor you are better off with the LT1 T56. There aren't any conversion kits that I know of but one can be converted. However, it comes at the cost of finding those parts if they don't come from a donor tranny. LT1 and LS1 T56 trannys retail for about the same price. Therefore it is often easier to sell the one you have and buy another that will be easier to swap.

Actually you might be lucky. Locally I've been seeing quality LT1's fetch a few hundred more than LS1's, just do to desire.

Have you tried searching? The info you gather should be reflective of what I have already mentioned.
