I want 3.73s

Can I change to 3.73s when I have 2.73s now? I will still be using the 700R4 tranny, is that possible.

Yes it is very possible. You will have to buy new rear-end gears. And I wouldn't do this swap unless you plan to add a posi unit also. Plus installation feel and a install kit.

Easy...

Alright, the trans is really non-related as far as gear swaps go, the 700R4 is about the best Auto you can find for your application. As far as the gears go, you will probably need a new carrier, or even better, get a limited slip instead. 3.73's will mount on the 2.71 carrier, but I would suggest a limited slip if you are looking for traction. The swap is relatively easy if you are familliar with rear ends, if not, it takes a bit of time to get the spacing down. Hope this helps,

I knew that the tranny wasn't related, I don't know why I asked that. When you say carrier what do you mean?

The carrier is the center unit that the ring gear bolts to. Bolting 3.xx ratio gear to a carrier designed for 2.xx gears is generally a no-no, unless you buy 3.xx gears specifically designed that way.

Plenty of good options for the swap, SLP sells a spiffy Torsen differential, Auburn makes a nice clutch-type, etc.
