700r-4 won't kick down ??
I just put my hi perf build 700r-4 back in a carbed 85 corvette. The trans has the transgo shift kit, beast shell, kevalar bands, boost valve...etc. The problem i'm having is it won't kick down from 3 to 2nd or from 2nd to 1st.
I thought the TV cable controlled this ?
I have a holley carb and the holley bracket for the 700 r-4.
One thought was the plunger for the transgo shift kit is different than a stock one and that might be causing the problem ?
ANY Suggestions ?
Mike

Is the cable adjusted properly? It should be taunt like a piano wire with the throttle all the way against the stop. That's just a quick test. It needs to be automatically adjusted to be correct.
The TransGo kit isn't the cause, unless something wasn't done right during the install. I've got the kit in my 700R4 and it works flawlessly. Did you drill all the holes and such for the new 2-3 downshift valve? I almost missed one, but luckily I caught it in time. One of the lines of the instructions was hard to read on my copy, as Dana had marked up the instructions with his notes and modifications. I called him and verified the size and orientation of each new hole, and made sure that I had drilled them all. I don't know what missing that one would have done, but the trans probably wouldn't have worked right. The fact that it was for the new downshift valve is what made me think this may also be your problem.

Yeah, no problem. If the TV is adjusted right then it's got to be a valvebody issue. If it was an upshift problem I'd say maybe the governor, but with a downshift problem I think it's got to be in the valvebody.
I'll let you know what the fix is when he finds it.
I'm also thinking of having it wired so the lock up will reelease when i hit the brake, right now it just releases when pressure drops and will stayed locked up at 600 rpm when slowing down. I want it to lock and unlock automatically, so i don't have to use a toggle switch .

You should wire up the lockup to unlock when the brakes are pressed. There's a real simple way to do it with a relay. The tech articles on TGO should have a diagram showing how to do this.
