Torque converter question
I have an 89 Iroc Z convertible with a 305 tpi motor. I'm having problems with the motor stalling while it is in gear. I had a mechanic tell me that the T/C is not disengaging and its putting to much of a load on the motor and killing it. It happens when it gets warm , and driving around town. It drives perfect on highway and idles fine. Just when I come to a stop light it boggs down and dies out. Any help with this? Should I change the torque converter out? I have had the egr , o2 senser, fuel filter, idle air control, all changed out and he's pretty sure, that it is the T/C do ya'll have any suggestions?

yup sounds like the tc to me too. if a lock up converter does not unlock when you come to a stop sign its like stopping without pushing in the clutch on a manual trans car, the engine will stall. may have a valve in the trans sticking, but first check your stitches onthe brake pedal, theres switches on the pedal that are supposed to realeasa ehe lockup converter.

Could you tell me where the switches are located ? I'm sorry I'm a novice , just need a little guidance. I did the coolant bypass and took the screens out of the maf with the guidance on here. So I can do the work if I have a visual..lol Thanks for your help.
