Weird Clunk on Acceleration...
Hello All,
I've just recently (within last 5 days / 200 mi. ) noticed a clunking feel / noise when accelerating rapidly.
It doesn't happen at any set RPM, but it does happen during the 1-2 or N-1 shift on occasion. It doesn't seem to happen during the 3-2 downshift, but I can't be sure.
It does NOT however occur when I am driving the vehicle like a grandma/pa. I am wondering what the possible causes would be.
Bad engine/transmission mount
Something going wrong in the tranny (Not a good thing for my budget)
Or could it be something in the rear?
I am looking for the F-Bod G0D's to help me out, longtime lurker, infrequent poster, and respector of those with mechanical know-how. I've done the normal tune-up's, oil changes, disc brakes, etc... on this car myself, but I'd really like it to last for another 2 years.
Thanks all.
BTW: The car is a 91 5.0 TBI Firebird w/2.73 rears. 142,000mi. 30,000 of which I've put on myself in the last year - year and a half. I also had tranny and tq converter flushed when purchased, but no filter change (I was a complete mechanical noob then...) Also changed radiator, hoses, belts etc... That's it, besides the normal oil changes with dino oil ever 3,000 and such!

question - if that is the problem, is there any problem to driving it as-is? Assuming I keep the rev's down, etc? I need/would really to drive it another 100-200 mi. for the rest of the week and to get it back to my mechanic...
Thanks again!

Found this, figured I'd post for anyone with similar problems - still reading.

I had the exact same thing on my old 'bird.
Transmission mount, easy to do (read the directions in that other thread)
hardest part for me was a bolt that broke on the mount that I had to drill out, after that it was smooth sailing and no more clunk.
