New tranny has transbrake. HELP!!!

I just got my new tranny delivered. I obviously wasn't thinking when I bought it because I didn't see it had a transbrake on it. What do I do? I don't plan on ever using it and don't want to hook it up either. Can I just pin or cut the wires back, or do I need to actually remove the solenoid?

The transbrake does nothing to the drivability but I'm sure the valve body has been modified.

Just leave the transbrake unplugged but you better make sure the transmission is what you want. If it has a full manual valve body, you'll need to shift through all the gears manually. If you put it in "D" and drive away, you'll quickly burn up the high speed clutches since you'll be sharting off in high gear.

Since it has a transbrake, you won't have a modulator valve to provide any upshifts so there's a good chance it's a full manual valve body. Depending on the tranny it's also possible to have full manual through the gears but putting it in "D" so the tranny to start in first and shift through the gears on it's own like normal.

The transbrake will only work in first gear. When you move the shifter into first gear and push the transbrake button, the transmission stays in first but also applies reverse at the same time. With 2 gears locked, the car won't move anywhere. When the transbrake is released, the fluid in the reverse circuit is dumped and the car will launch forward. Using a transbrake allows you to come up on the converter to it's full stall speed. Using a 2-step and the transbrake allows you to launch at different rpms up to the converters stall speed.

Yeah it is a full manual valve body with a reverse shift pattern which I wanted in the first place. It is warranted for 6 months and has a 500HP rating on it. Those are the reasons I got it. Not to mention tearing my last tranny up. My Camaro is my weekend playtoy and occasional track runner. That's why I don't want the transbrake. Not to metion hating to replace rear ends.

By the way, nice draglites. got the same on mine.

Don't know what brand you bought but, if it is a reverse shift manual body with a brake. Most likely has a protree brake, you'll have to hook it up to have reverse. I sure wouldn't want to have one in my street car. Is this a th350 trans? Maybe a transgo kit would have been a better way to go. Still could have been used as an auto, or shifted.

I personally wanted full manual. Why? I don't know. It's just what I like. It never goes much more than 20 miles from the house. I'm gonna call the guys who built the tranny on monday and see what they say about the trans brake. Hopefully I wont have to worry about it. At worst I'll have to run a little wire and add a switch.
