3.73 gear swap
I know there are several posts regarding this, but I don't see this exact question. I have a 2.72 posi rearend that I have swapped for my 3.73 open. Posi is great but I need the lower gears, can I take the old 3.73's along with the carrier and make the swap? I know the 3.73's won't work with the 2.72 carrier. Just wondering if I could take enough of the parts from the old to make the posi work with the lower gears.

No, the carriers for open for posi are completely different, let alone the 2-series/3-series differences (BTW, it's 2.73, not 2.72 - FWIW).
Your only options are a posi carrier, or a conversion unit like Powertrax. The price is about the same for either one, but you can install the Powertrax without any special tools.

Thanks, got it. The posi was given to me. I shouldn't complain about having to spend a few bucks getting it geared right. Got a built 355 with th350, stall convertor, cam, heads, etc. We put 28" tires on for better grip and of course now want the lower gears. I read that almost no one puts the gears in themselves. It is really that tough? I can get a dial indicator if I need it.
