what did i do

well heres the story i was playin around in my car the other, and kinda accidently did a neutral drop at a pretty high rpm(long story)
well heard a loud noise and now i only have first gear and reverse with the gear selector in those positions, its a 700r4(old)
so OD,D,2 do not do anything
does anyone know what i mostly broke and whether i will be able to rebuild it or if it is pretty much junk, i am getting another tranny to put in for now anyway

you busted the splines out of your drive shell. when you rebuild it, put a hardened one in it. or you can get a "beast to put in it if you are going to neutral drop it.

a lot of transmission parts places carry it. i'm not sure about the price. it will depend on where you get it.you can get an aftermarket hardened one for about $30.00. the beast runs 70 to 80 if you are not a transmission shop.the regular hardened one is good for most stock and modified applications. you only need the beast for major mods.just stay away from the neutral dropping....lol. if you can't find it local, look here: http://www.wittrans.net/shop/home.php
give them a call.

remove the cross member and lower the transmission with a jack. this should give you clearance to remove the bolts. also. there is one short bolt on the top of the torqur arm mount that is not easy to see that will impede you if you don't know about it. it does not go through to the other side. it will have to be removed to get the torque arm free of te transmission.

I would venture to guess that you broke more than the reaction sun shell, On the last two trannies that I rebuilt, the sunshell was broke and it would just whine in reverse, but I think that it had 1st and third gears.

yeah, the sunshell was the main culprit but you are right. he will probably find other stuff wrong as well.
