Why do I think my clutch is about to die?
Hey all...question for ya!
I drive along, cruising. I stop at a light, and after downshifting, putting her into neutral, and letting off the clutch....i hear a slight squeak...
I ONLY hear this squeak when the clutch is fully disengaged, as in, no foot anywhere near the pedal. Listening to it, it sounds to be coming from the middle of the car.
Ideas? Laughter? Comments? Anythings appreciated.
FYI: I'm still a rookie when it comes to 3rd gens, or cars in general...so be nice to me

By soon 84ZMIKE means really soon. Its probably out of grease and will soon get overheated. Then it will change into a million little pieces. I know how this happened to me this June.

bad question, but here goes
Is it possible to get a shop to put some more grease on the throwout bearing? or is that a no no...? The reason i ask is simply that finding a clutch for this car will prove to be expensive and i just finished moving...

You would have to pull the tranny to repair/replace the bearing.....you can get a clutch kit for around $110 from autozone with a 60 month warranty.....for a stck one that is.

I could live with a stock one...lol...the person who sold me car stated her and her bf thought it was a racing clutch....in all reality i gotta drop the pedal about 1/2 of its full travel to shift....racing or no?
honestly don't care what kind of kit i put in there, as long as i can still shift once its done, but that last reply reminded me and sparked my curiousity.
also...that 110 you quoted i assume is NOT CDN funds....any idea what it would be? I'm going to start looking, but i would like a figure to work with as to what i could expect?
thanx for all yer help

The $110 is american money...( is there any other) j/k......take a look at summit they have an e-bay store now as well.......as far as a racing clutch....I don't think so.... more like a tire saving clutch....it will slip before your tires do.....
