$250 for a used 9 bolt?
A guy at my shop said hes got a used 9 bolt out of an IROC (I think) with disk brakes. Thats the main thing that got my attention, DISCS!! But, 250 for a 9 bolt? that sound about right? I think he said it was a stock posi, but gears were like 2.XX. Any advice? Is it worth the time/money to get it and throw in 3.73s rather than rebuild my stock 10 bolt/drum rear?

Thats something else Ive seen, it seems that it would cost more to build up a 10 bolt than a 9 bolt.

I wouldn't give more than $100 for a 9 bolt with those gears, which are 2.77s by the way. From what I have found, for a new posi unit, new 3.73 gears, and the install kit you're looking at $895 shipped. You can get just the 3.73 gears with the install kit for $475 but it won't do you any good without the new posi unit. The 2.77 uses a series 2 posi unit, and the 3.73s have to have a series 3 posi unit. The 3.73 are special gears for that rear by the way .... the factory 9bolts came with 3.70 gears IF you could find one.
Also, "strange engineering" has 3.70 gears for the 9 bolt for $319 plus $119 for the master installation kit.... but then you still have to find a new carrier because the 3.70 gears won't fit in a series 2 carrier.
Basically, unless you're really wanting the 9 bolt, don't waste your time. For about $1200 you can get a Ford 9" rear end ready to bolt in ..... that's only about $200 more than buying the 9 bolt and putting 3.73s in it ($100+$895) ..... that's IF you can manage to talk the guy down from $250 to $100
