Trans filter Q. need some quick info...
Hi all,
I have my trans pan and filter out (700r4) and started to put the new filter in and it just falls out, it will sit for a second and falls, it is verry loose.
I checked for the O ring in the pickup tube hole and the old filter and its a no show....so that cant be stopping it. Unless the trans ate it at some point...
The new filter I bought (4 months ago) is correct for the trans this I know..
It has a ribbed orange rubber O ring on it (the new one) but dont seet securely. It came from either Advanced Auto or Autozone.
Has anybody had any experience with this?
If so did it seat tight or stay loose?
Will the pan hold it in place and secure If I put it in?
Its 230 now and I need to pick up the wife at 5 so any replies soon would be greatly appreciated. Sorry I cant put pix up my computer is ancient...

As long as the old seal isn't in the pump body, you need to seat the new filter with a bit of force. They almost snap into place. Use some lube on the new seal and push up (don't hit it) on the filter directly below the tube.
First time I did one on a 700R4 I thought I was going to break the filter.
