Need help with a T-5 and Lakewood bellhousing

I blew my clutch through my bellhousing , so I got a Lakewood blowproof bellhousing . I have installed a Hayes clutch kit and my clutch won't disengage . I want to see if anyone is running a Lakewood bellhousing on a T - 5 . Does anyone know if I need a different throwout bearing ? My car is still on jackstands and I can start it in gear and the wheels turn , but if I push in the clutch , nothing happens . Any help would be appreciated .

It uses the same throwout bearing. I would get a helper to push in the clutch and take a look from underneath to see what is or isn't happening.

Well when I called Hayes they said that I need to try a longer throwout bearing like from an 80's model truck . I searched and lots of people seemed to try and lenghten the slave cylinder rod . But noone had a Hayes clutch and a Lakewood bellhousing . I was hoping to find someone who has this exact setup . We will be tearing it back down today and trying more stuff to make it work . Any advice or knowledge on this is appreciated . Thanks ,
Dave
Also wanted to let you know that we tried looking and it seems to get plenty of travel , but if the slave cylinder is off I have about a half inch play between the throwout bearing and the clutch fingers . Is that normal or way too much ?

I've run the "stock" replacement centerforce setup with this bellhousing, and am currently running a spec stage 2-3 hybrid for an 88 vette (10-3/4" clutch). It's pretty much the most the stock slave cylinder can take. I do remember having to get a lakewood adjustable clutch fork pivot (can make it longer or shorter). I had to make it as long as possible or slightly longer. Welded the sucker together when I got the right height.

There was an article in car craft or hot rod years ago that had all the specs for setting up a clutch with an aftermarket bellhousing. You had to measure from the block mounting surface to the surface of the flywheel, from the bellhousing mounting surface (block side) down to the fork pivot, and some or stuff. It had all the numbers and equations so as to set the fork pivot at the right height. That is what sounds like your problem. There should not be 1/2" slop between the bearing and the fingers. I'm not positive, but I think it should ride on it lightly. The directions for the lakewood bellhousing might have some suggestions on which fork pivot to run.

Bought the bellhousing used . I think I am going to try and get a longer throwout bearing , and maybe even a longer adjustable pivot ball . We'll be working on it again later tonite .

One other important question. Is this Hayes clutch a "direct replacement" for your car or something else?

The gist of the question was is it supposed to bolt up for your application, or is it some universal deal? If it's a universal one, that would explain the longer throwout bearing if say the disc and pressure plate are a 1/2" shorter than the stock one for your car.

Good question . I'll check into that . I ordered it at my local performance shop . May not be able to find that out until the weekend is over .

Turned out to be I needed to take the rubber stop off the clutch pedal . Wonder why that was never mentioned in all those articles I read I also put a longer throwout bearing on it from a 1980 4 wheeler with a six popper . It was twice as long as the stocker . I actually may need to take that back off , as it's giving me a little too much throw now I believe . I say this because I smell just a touch of clutch and when I parked on a hill with it in gear last night I heard it trying to give a little . I think I'll take that one off and either put the stocker back on or ideally try and find one in between the 2 . Either way it runs now and clutch engages . Thank you for your input Lo-tec .
