disassembled Very leaky T5-Front countershaft bearing almost falls out!
the t5 out of my 88GTA leaked about a quart of gear oil a week...you could sit under the car and pretty much watch it drip right from the front countershaft bearing. So i pulled it all apart and i went to press the countershaft bearing out and it came out with very little pressure at all... and after pressing it out i can slide the front countershaft bearing in and out of the case very easily with my hands
a trans shop shop tried using RTV to seal the bearing in there a while back but it lasted about a month before it leaked again...
but i have another grinding T5 and im wondering if i should just swap cases????shouldnt that bearing be a tight press fit? or will loctite seal it? judging by how easily it slides in im thinking the outer part of the bearing might be spinning when i drive and causing a leak...with loctite fix this?????
