700 Rebuild ques.

I plan on having the 700 out of my maro rebuilt its just a 2.8 but the guy wants to run the trans through the performance garden(ie vette servo, 10 vane pump, etc..) do i really need all that? He says it will help it live longer. The car is gonna be going from coast to coast and back next summer so if it will help i might as well go for it right?

Shift kits and all that will help it live longer due to the lack of slippage between shifts but behind that 2.8 i dont think the trans will die very quickly anyways.

The upgrades mentioned are cheap and well worth it.

If that price incldes a remanufactured torque converter, and a cooler flush, it sounds very fair.

Most shops flush the cooler. The smart ones do, anyway. Any crap or metal debris trapped in the cooler or lines will be pumped into the new trans.

The 10 vane setup is stock in your case already, the Vette servo is less than $23.00 with the latest updated seals. Make sure you get a 7 or 8 Borg Warner Hi-Energy 3-4 clutch pack, Borg Warner Hi-Energy 2-4 band, Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, Trans-Go No Yo-Yo steel front pump rings & priming spring, GM hardened sunshell, large main boost valve .500" or .471", & intermediate/reverse boost valve .296", turbulator steels for the low/reverse & reverse input clutch setups. These are a minimum for a "good" performance setup.

The 7 vane setup was used in the early 700R4's. Yours is a 10 vane setup, unless someone changed it on prior rebuild.
