would 3.42 gear ratio be fine on my TBI?
Would my differential be strong enough to handle it? I was thinking maybe 3.73s maybe but that might be a bit too much....
Basically my car is all stock, but down the road I am gonna do a catback system open element, some wicked new intake manifolds and some other crap....
Also how good would the 3.42s improve on my 0-60 times cause thats why I am mainly concerned about.

Even 3.73's would be fine. The reason the numerically higher ratios are weaker is b/c to get the ratio you have to make the pinion smaller in diameter. That's what weakens them. If it's all put together well you wont have any problems. No offense but an L03 isn't making enough power to break much of anything. I've done plenty of 4.10's in M6 LS1's that run on slicks and they last. For a daily driver though I'd go with a 3.42.

bleh I already know the TBIs arent much of anything, its my daily driver and I love it for what it is. Its a low maintenance engine that proves its reliability to me. I am only gonna do minor mods, I just wanna help on my take offs is all...
But are you meaning to tell me the 3.42s will have no effect on my acceleration whatsoever?

Not saying that at all. 3.42's are a great gear for a daily driver. You'll notice a big difference from a 2.73, it'll wake the car up. 3.73's will be only marginally better but not worth the drop in mileage IMO. Keep in mind you'll need a 3 series carrier and an install kit to do the job.

i put 3.42`s in my tbi car and it was a big difference to me.i also got a powertrax locker which helps my straight acceleration as well, although i would`nt recommend getting the powertrax for daily driving (it sux in the turns).as far as a 3 series carrier get a rearend out of a v6 camaro in any junkyard and build from there.it`s what i did with good results.
