i just rebuilt my tranny and i have a whine when it gets hot too, execpt mine sounds like the jet engine wine kind of, and i have no 3-4 shift, can anyone help me

 

did you rebuild the pump and replace the torque convertor? if you rebuilt the pump, did you have both pieces face cut and then check top clearance when you built it? did you check the planetary gears for pitting? only a couple of things cause that kind of whine in a tranny.


the 3/4 shift could be a stuck valve in the valve body or a misaligned seal on the 4th apply piston on the 2/4 servo. did you check to make sure all the valves in the valve body moved freely?

 

no i didnt have the pump cut, i actually changed the pump all together from another working 700r4 and it had the same noise the converter is new . the planet gears are new, the case is new, pretty everything in the tranny is new there are very few old parts and ad far as the other stuff goes for the 3/4 shift i checked the valve body pretty good for free valves but i dunno i could of missed one and the servo went together as per the astg manuel so i dunno

 

if you got the pump out of another 700 that had the same noise, it is probably bad or going that way fast. if it is not putting out enough pressure, that could also explain the lack of a 3/4 shift.
