yes. i used to run a 4l60e converter in mine. i think the only difference is the clutch material. i think it may have had a slightly higher stall as well.

what are the different spline counts for different years. i am trying to sell a 2500 converter that fit onto a 90 trans, and somebody wants to know if it would work on theirs.
evrythnig '85 and later were either 27 spline or 30 spline. all v-8's are 30 spline and i'm not positive about the 4.3 liter.
In mid 1984 they went from 27 splines to 30 splines.
the smaller 6 cyl. 700r4's still used 27 splines. what changed in '84 was the size of the front pump bushing.
