LS 4l60e pump in a 700??

Well I went through my tranny this weekend and decided to put a 13 vane kit in the pump. Well after opening it up and replacing the parts I then read that I need a clamp to keep the pump lined up. Well I cant get a clamp and I have a pump from a 4l60e out of a '00 silverado. Are the pumps different from the LS motors? I havent counted the splines yet.

yes, the pumps are different. the main difference being the filter opening. the 700r4 pumps had a better boost control assembly. i have never used a clamp to line up the pump halves. it can be tricky, but you can do it without it.

I wont swear by it but it almost looks like 1 half of the pump is oblonged a bit!! The pump was in working order but me being me, I decided to upgrade it since it was out.

oblonged?.......lol. i have never seen that in all the pumps i have seen(and that is a bunch) i always use my fingers to line up the edges once i get the bolts close. i guess the oblong look could be from the slight misalignment. doing it without a clamp helps if you have someone helping you. use the bolts to get the 2 halves of the pump close together(just touching), then use your fingers to mimic a clamp to align the pump. then have your helper snug the bolts, then torque them.

lol....ok. btw, leave the o-ring off the pump while you are aligning it so it will not be in the way.

Put a couple of large hose clamps together to make a band clamp for aligning the 2 halves.

The 4L60E will not interchange with the 700R4 in terms of the front pumps. Stick with the 10 vane setup, the 13 vane will take away volume, & has no advantages. I use the 10 vane in "all" my performance buildups.

Well I went back and tried to install the 10 vane parts back and its being a PITA !! . It just wont go back in and feel right as far as the vanes, you can get over half in and they dont have enough room to slide in. Doent seem right to me. Whos a good company to buy a rebuilt pump from?? You can see some wear on the vanes so I see it being pointless puting them back in and wanting this tranny to last with want I will put it through.

Pro Built Automatics, I went to your site and didnt see any, do you sell them?
