help with stall convert
I am new to cars and when I bought my 86 z28 I was told by the previous owner that the car had a 2000 rpm stall. I keep on reading about how this helps 1/4 mile times. I am assuming a stall would enable me to launch at 2000 rpm every time, or are you just supposed to start from a idle and floor it with a auto. Not being able to find any info on how to activate the stall. I tried to do a brake stand and see if the if the motor would stop reving at 2000 rpm. When trying this the tires broke lose before making it to 2000 rpm. Does this tranny have a stall how would I tell, how would I activate it.

I think you have been Bs'd.
If it was truly a 2000RPM stall you should have had to go over 2000RPM to break the back tires loose.
When you hold the brakes and start slowly pressing the gas what RPM does it start to load the engine up at?
I think your still running a stock stall in there or else your engine is a gutless wonder, thats also supposed to be a reason for an aftermarket stall to not meet spec.

Well the tranny was redone and I got the receipt for it from the seller. Looks like he paid a heafty price 1500 bucks. The tranny was is a stage 2 700r4 raptor which i have read good and bad things about. Would it be possible the company that redid the tranny, have the records stating what has been done to the tranny. The engine is a 350 4 bolt, with heads, intake, carb, headers, cam, with about 10000 miles. If it was the stock stall would the car still only shift at 4500rpm at wot while in od? Could you define loading up the engine. Do you mean what rpm the tires started to spin? It was around 1600rpm. Could this be because i have these old grand am tires that came on the car where the rubber is really old and hard.

stall doesnt affect your shift RPM.
By loading up i mean when alot of stress is starting to be put on the engine and it either bogs down or the tires spin.
If it will break the tires loose @ 1600RPM im 99% sure you still have either the stock TC or an aftermarket with a stock stall speed.
