Went 4 miles on new rear axle bearings w/o lubing them!
What is the probability they are toast now? I forgot the 2nd most important step in doing rear axle bearings, to lube them. Is there any chance they survived the 4 miles without seizing? I will get new ones, but won't do it for 2 days or so. AAAaarrrgghhh!!! Do you think they seized on me or would it be really noticeable like the tires would've screached to a halt if that happened?
Anyway, on a side note we put up my Parent's Christmas Tree tonight and it's beeeeeutiful!!! Oh the holidays, any other time of the year and I'd be pissed, but now I'm relaxxed.

Rear axle bearings, forgot the say that.
I totally forgot. It says to use differential oil. But do you think that w/o lube it would've warped the axle or anything?
Also, I put in the Timken "Axle Savers" but the ones the old ones were the same kind, is that ok?

I think theyll be alright. They are supposed to stay lubed with the dif fluid anyway. So as long as that level was ok i dont think youll have a problem.

The off-sets from CarQuest that I used were pre-lubed.

Well I have a noise, a grinding noise. It got worse over the 4 miles, and especially when coming to a stop, very GRINDY. Brakes pads are fine. They did come pre lubed. But what could be grinding?

I think ede is speaking about the guts of the differential.

Well, I found out what was grinding...my brand new rotor! It was literally brand new. The caliper must be shot. I will rebuild it.
