I blew the trans in my Iroc. I put a different one and thought I'd see what was wrong with the one that blew. I tried getting the top off but didn't have the right tools so I thought Iwould take the front housing off and see what I could see. I know nothing about these things so any help you guys can give me will really help. when i got the housing off, there was alot of metal falling out . some little roll pin like things and the input shaft fell out in my hands. the gear on the bottom looks like the teeth have been ground down. Is it worth fixing? It's out of an '89

 

There really are no special tools for this job. to remove the top just unbolt it and pop it loose from the silicone. Wait my memory is returning the tailshaft needs to come off first and there is a rod that goes up to the front for the shft forks. Some gentle force is required but no special tools and you should not need a hammer.
