snap ring help

snap ring help

i am having trouble getting the snap ring out, i am putting a shift kit in my friends car, and i was wondering if there were any specialty tools that i would need, right now i am trying to use needle nose pliers. any help would be good. -jon

I've never had to remove a snap ring to put a shift kit in a trans.
Why are you? I'm guessing you have one bad *** kit to install and if your trying to install a kit that involves that much dissasembly and don't even have snap-ring pliers, I believe you might be in over your head like my son! he called me and I had to go to his house and finish the job starting with the valve body, screws, seperator plates, check ***** and everything else in the trans pan!!! Hey, you never know, I've seen a friend rebuild a 350 TH sitting on a board on a trash can in his front yard!
