stock 700R4 hp torq ability

anyone know just how much hp and torq a stock 700R4 out of an 83 Trans Am might be able to handle. I am parting out my 83 Trans Am and if I don't sell the tranny then I think I might just keep it and bolt it to a 454 and put that combo in my 88 Firebird. I wouldn't expect the 700 to hold up for long, just hopefully long enough till I would get enough money for a tranny rebuild.

anything 1986 and earlier are supposadly a lot weaker, they had the smaller splined outputshafts (27?) as opposed to 87 and laters (30?). I beleive the 87 and later also had quite a few valve body changes.

Is the 454 basically all stock? If it's built it might last till the first brake stand lol. My opinion is you will be hard pressed to rebuild 1 to take big block torque and expect it to last through a lot of punishment.

27 spline input shaft was used up to late 84. The 87 and up transmissions had a better foward sprag and low roller clutch. These were the major torque holding pieces. Many smaller changes happened throughout the production run.
