how do i find out what the drive gear is on my th350

how do i find out what the drive gear is on my th350

i need to find out how many teeth are on my drive gear so i can calculate what driven gear i need what is the easiest way to figure this out? do i just take off the tailshaft and its right there?

I think all you need to do is pull the tailshaft off to see the speedo drive gear. They're usually color coded so you just need to know what color it is and what color you need to correct the speedo.

Remove the tailshaft. The drive gear is held onto the output shaft by a special clip. Count the teeth. After being in hot trans fluid for one or more decades the color has a way of changing, greens go blue, reds go pink. I worked dealership parts counters for many years & found you can't rely on the color, unless it's a new gear.
