Clutch Won't Disengage TKO Swap

Well, I got it all together today & fired it up & it won't go into gear with the engine running & wheels locked. Wheel s jacked up it goes in all gears except reverse, hit the brakes with the clutch pedal in & it stalls the engine. Here's the lowdown, I swapped a 700R4 for a Tremec TKO 600. I used a Mcleod bell, flywheel & clutch, 69 Camaro fork & short TO bearing, 3rd gen hydraulics, 4th gen pedals, adjustable ball stud, all brand new. I am getting 5/8" travel at the slave cylinder, the ball stud was adjusted so the TO bearing just kissed the clutch fingers with the tie strap still installed. If 5/8" is normal travel then I have to rethink the mechanics of this setup. I am not sure how much the clutch fingers need to move to disengage the disc. I am going to check on this tomorrow. Any insight would be appreciated.

the 5/8 travel should be plenty, its almost certainly a problem where your not close enough to the clutch to disengage it

its possible that any of your adjustments are off, the TO bearing is too short, the bell is too long, or the flywheel has been resurfaced one too many times (i did that this past year lol)

Like I said, the TO is touching the fingers of the PP. This has been verified by using a mirror to look into the fork hole. All the parts are brand new, including the flywheel. I fabricated a bracket & welded it on the bell for the slave cylinder. Everything was done to ensure proper alignment & everything appears to be working. The only thing I can come up with is the 69 Camaro fork needs more travel than the T5 one does.

Did you ever come up with a solution for this? I'm having a similiar problem. Not quite enough throw on the clutch to fully disengage - I can shift when I rev match but otherwise it's rough

Yep, got her straightened out. Got a custom length, bolt on hydraulic TO bearing & adjustable master cylinder from McLeod. Not cheap, but it works perfectly. If I had to do it all over from scratch, I would get the bellhousing & slave assembly from 5speedtransmission.com & use the stock master cylinder.
