it is a 10 spline input shaft and a 28 spline output shaft. it seems to be a manual clutch instead of a hydraulic?

Transmissions aren't "manual" or "hydraulic". Any T-5 will work with either clutch style. That part of them is all the same.

That number you posted looks like the casting number of the case; altogether useless for identifying it.

The only number with useful facts attached will be on a metal tag on one of the extension housing bolts; should start out 13-52.

If the trans mount pad is rotated about 18 degrees with respect to the bell housing bolt pattern, it's a 82-up Camaro/Firebird unit. The shifter should be very near the far rear of the extension housing. If the trans mount pad is parallel to the bell housing bolt pattern, it's not out of one of these cars, and cannot be made to work easily. If the shifter is right next to the top cover, it's out of a S-10 truck.

Go here for ID info. You'll be disappointed with what little you've got.

Pics would help.

It sounds like it might not be a GM at all though; GM 6-cyls used a 14-spline clutch, and V8s used 26 splines.

im sorry what i meant to say was the bell housing i got doesnt have the mounts for the slave cylinder. the bellhousing is a chevrolet though, and there are ten splines on the input shaft. origionally we were going to put this tranny in my buddys trans am, but the input splines were way off, and the shifter was different.

from the information you gave, it sounds like its the t5 tranny from early-mid 80s CJs. *Think* GM used something very similar in a couple trucks as well. Could also be a borg warner from a ford pickup or mustang too. Or a T-10, the possibilities are endless. Need more info, obviously.

what kind of information are we talking about? i gave the only numbers i could find on it. the only other things i noticed were, there is no mounting points in casting of the case for the torque arm, also there is no removable "pan" on top of the gear case. the shifter is not a ball an socket type like on the later t-5's ive seen, its more of a slide on.

The number is worthless. Sorry, but it really doesn't matter that it's the only one you can find, unortunately that doesn't make it any less worthless. It looks like the casting number of the case, not the tag ID # for an assembled transmission.

Pics might help. Alot.

i called borg warner yesterday. the tech i talked to had never heard of the prefix 1338, he had to call his corporate office. the pricing lady, who had been doing it for 15 years, had never heard of this tranny. i just said forget it, im not spending money on a transmission that not even the manufacturers know about.
thanks for your help, and swear this tranny exists!
