LS1 driveshaft in a 3rd gen??
Just wanting to make sure that this is correct. Ive got an 1982 Z28 with the stock ds in it but am wanting to upgrade to an aluminum ds. True/False I can take a ds out of a 4th gen LS1 and it will bolt on no probs to my 3rd gen. I know ive read on these boards that its totally true but i called my local camaro shop today and they said it was impossible? but those guys are kinda backwards so I just wanted to doublecheck from my 3rd gen brethren first b4 i went and dropped some cash on one.
thanks

No it will not work in your car.
If you're able to use the drive shaft that came in your car, then the one for ALL OTHER 3rd gen cars, and 4th gens as well, will be about 2" short.
If you had a 83-up car, or at least if you had a 700 or T-5 or T-56 in it, you WOULD be able to use the LS1 drive shaft.

Sofa,
Unless I misread, he's running a 350 and 700R.

Yes, I missed that; I got stuck on Sorry about that.
But as I said, and others as well, with a 700 in it (NOT stock), and the right drive shaft for THAT in it (NOT stock), the LS1 will replace it. Direct swap.
