governor for shift kit/harder shift?

when i had my shift kit installed, the mechanic told me there was some type of governor that could also be replaced to make it shift harder, he said he replaced it in his son's 87 camaro, but he wasn't sure what the part number was....does anyone know about this, what it does and is it worth replacing? Thanks.

Governor controls shift points(rpm) You may be referring to a servo or boost valve?

hmm, i thought it was something different because the servo comes with the trans-go shift kit, and it was installed....i think he was talking about something else...
