removing a 5 speed?
whats the easyiest/fastest way of removing a 5 speed behind a 2.8? i need to replace my throw out bearing.
when i did my clutch job i pulled the tranny out with a floor jack with a wood plank and it ended up falling and almost crushing my hand. then installing i had to get right underneath the center of the car and pull the trans up ontop of me and lift it up into place so i could get it aligned but it almost killed me, had stomach and back pains for a few days
im just looking for the best/safest way to do it this time.

more people...
I didn't think the 5speed was all that heavy...?
I've used a tranny jack (useful if the car is on a lift), and a 6'4" 300lb yard ape, both of which I assume you don't have
A jack is sadly your best option, another person to balance it, while you line it up might save your torso this time.

yah its not that heavy but when you are laying on a cement floor and car very low to the ground because just using some jack stands with very little room to work its bad.

hmm, I figured that meant it'd have less room to fall, before it hit you
I throw 2x8 wood below my jackstands, and below the jack, to get it high enough in the air.
