Putting a T5 Together
Putting a T5 Together
I have a 82 Z-28 and i want to put this t5 in it, the t5 is from some-sort of F-car( it has the tranny cocked at an angle), and I have a spare parts 83 with a z-bar linkage. what I dont have is a clutch fork, the clutche and presure plate I think are the same off the mustangs( alot more common in my where I live) so is the clutch fork the same? is there any difference between the clutch fork for a hydraulic unit and a z-bar unit camaro? Are the bell housings even the same? Any help at all would be appreciated/

Your '83 parts are a one-year-only item. If you want to use the T5 with your stock mechanical linkage, just swap over the bellhousing from the '83 car. Parts stores should be able to get the fork, and the clutch is easy enough to get. I'm using the RAM 88761, and it's just peachy. I'm running the same setup in my '88 SS.

The clutch is the same; it doesn't care what actuates it. The throwout is even the same. The transmission is the same too.
The pedals, the bell housing, the forks, and of course linkage itself vs hydraulics, is all that changed from 83 to 84. You can use the hydraulic stuff, which is much easier to get and much better working IF ASSEMBLED CORRECTLY, and install it in your 82 car; if you get the list of parts I gave. All you'll have to do then, is drill the holes in the firewall, for the master cyl. Which is not particularly hard at all to do.
