Is it worth the $ to upgrade 4th gen axles?

I just bought a 4th gen rear out of a 95 Formula that only have 67,000 miles on it. I am going to be putting in larger gears and a new carrier. Is it worth the $250 dollars for the superior axles (28spline). I know the 4th gens come with 28 splined axles but are the aftermarket ones really stronger and worth the added cost?? Thanks in advance!

Depends what the stock rear was , if it was a 1990 and up it has 28 spline axles . I got to believe that aftermarket axles of the same configuration would be a stronger unit ( maybe stronger alloy ???)

Well, currently the rear has stock 28 splined axles. I was just wondering if there is that much of a difference between stock and the Superior brand axles. The rear will have 4.10 gears and I think a detroit truetrac "locker" in it. I am unsure about the carrier right now but am leaning towards the detroit. I have have about 400-425 horse and want to put another 150 shot on top of that. The car wont be abused at the track all that much nor on the street. The occasional burnout/track visit will happen.

for what you are doing, I wouldn't spend the money.
i've got the moser 28 spline axles and they have neat screw in studs, but those axles were in the rear when I bought it.

That's what I was thinking as well but upon inspection, there were little burrs on the end of the spline. I might as well fix that with some new axles. The local yard quoted me 100 for the splines which I told them was rediculous so I am going to spend the money. At least I will have the added assurance of strength.
