replacing stock shifter cable
After getting the new 350 and 700R4 in my '89 RS, I hooked up the tranny shifter cable and got in the car to test it. I grabbed onto the shifter and tried to run it through the gears...nothing. I took the shifter cover plate off and found the shifter cable separated and the metal core sticking out.
I've heard of this being a semi-common problem on 92's. Do these stock shifter cables just suck, or was this a result of the previous owner being a retard and doing stupid things with the shifter?
I found a few sources for a new stock type cable, but am wondering if I'll be better off buying a quality cable from B+M and making a few mods to fit it in.
Suggestions?
