I am having problems with my TH350. First off, it shifts from 1st directly to 3rd. It will manually shift from 1st to 2nd. But 2nd gear slips like mad. I don't hear anything grinding or anything. It was a sudden thing. It was working fine, then it wasn't. I did smell a burnt smell around the time it started. At the time I thought it was the POS in front of me. But now I think it was me.

Since I don't know a trusted tranny guy. I just wanted to get some opinions on what it might be before I take it somewhere to be repaired. I know I can buy a rebuilt one decently beefed for about $850. So I know if he quotes me something over that they are full of it.

Pull the pan down and look for hard parts. Sounds like the intermediate sprag failed. Common failure on a TH350. The tranny needs to be disassembled to fit it.
