Flexplate & starter combo problem
With spring hear and the baseball season just around the corner I am hoping to start my car before the big league season starts. So I need help because if I were playing baseball this would be strike 3 and I'd be out!
Here is my situation.
Rebuilt 383 with a 168 tooth flexplate and Mac shortie headers.

- Original starter didn't work because the old motor had a different flexplate. Strike one.
- Changed the tailshaft and it looks like it will bolt up but the selonoid hits the headers. Strike two.
- Got a High torque mini starter from Southwest Specialities that's supposed to fit with either flexplate and it doesn't. Plenty of header clearance but the mounting block needs to be taller for it to engage the flexplate. The gear shaft hits the flexplate inside of the teeth. Strike three.
