One quick auto to manual question

You know how the key cylinder will lock so you can’t remove the key if the trans is in any position other than park? How do you bypass this system if you're converting an automatic car over to manual?

The mechanism is controlled by a cable connected to the shifter (not the shift cable). Put the shifter into neutral before removing the auto shifter. You can leave the cable in case you ever want to go back to auto but it will be left in neutral so everything will be unlocked. If you already pulled the shifter, you can use vice grips to pull on the cable and find neutral.

Hope this makes sense

Makes perfect sense. I'm going to attempt the swap tomorrow or monday and wanted to make sure I had everything laid out ahead of time. Is there any way to just remove the cable? I'm afraid that it would move/vibrate and make it impossible for me to remove the key at some point in the future.
